About This Item

Masson & Cie, 1956-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good. In French. 1956 Masson and Cie (Paris), 7 1/2 x 10 1/8 inches tall x 1 1/2 inches thick blue cloth hardbound, gilt lettering to front cover and spine, copiously illustrated, 498 pp., plus 41 full-page plates, many folding. Minor rubbing and edgewear to covers, with slight sunning to spine. Prior owner stamp to front free-endpaper. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked. A complete work, part of a multi-volume atlas of structural geography issued by Masson. The authors, Henri Termier (1897-1989), a geologist and paleontologist, and his wife, Genevieve Termier (1917-2005), a paleontologist and evolutionist, are considered among the greatest French paleontological scientists of the 20th century, with this, 'The Evolution of the Lithosphere,' among their several renowned contributions to their fields. Association Copy: The prior owner, John F. Dewey, is one of the world's leading tectonic geologists and considered to be the 'Father of Modern Plate Tectonics,' having pioneered the field in 1970 with an article co-authored with J.M. Bind. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~VVV~
