Ink name on title page (John Denne, probably the Archdeacon of Rochester [1693-1767]). 1721 Soft Cover. xxiv, 58 pp. A collection of letters edited by Irish rationalist philosopher John Toland, who was influenced by the philosophy of John Locke. Shaftesbury's work proved influential in the works of Francis Hutcheson, David Hume, Adam Smith, etc.
