London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown, 1815. three-quarter dark green calf with gilt titles and blue marbled paper custom bound in 1815 for a noble family (handsome duBois bookplate tipped in and tooled and gilded bee device [the oldest emblem of the French sovereigns] and crowned Napoleonic 'N' on spine) 412pp untrimmed pages fold out maps intact marbled endpapers slight rubbing to spine bands slight rubbing to raised bands, corners and tail some wrinkling to later pages (from binding) otherwise a truly exceptional and beautiful copy of this very scarce travel documentary of the Peninsular War of which few remain outside of specialist library collections; this copy from the collection of Edward Lathem, longtime director of the Dartmouth College Libraries photographs and provenance on request
