London: Printed for Taylor and Hessey, 1818. 1st English ed. xv, 114pp. plus publisher's catalogue dated July 1818.Orig. paper-backed boards, housed in custom cloth slipcase, inner cloth chemise. Light wear to corners, small amount of faint scattered foxing, else very good or better. HOWES B-467. Issued in the same year as the Philadelphia edition; the London edition was issued without the maps. With the small leather bookplate of the noted Western collectors Neva and Guy Littell. "These letters were written to friends and inquirers in England and contain a wealth of information about economic and social conditions in the West"--Buck 105.
