Some volumes have chipping at head of spine, esp. VIII and IX. Volume IV has some staining to borads. Owner's name written in each. Some darkening of title pages where facing frontspieces have created a shadow. Rear hinge of Volume III weak. Small amount of penciled margin notes. Overall contents clean and tight.

London: Richard Bentley, 1857. Half Leather. Very Good binding. The Letters of Horace Walpole, complete in nine volumes. With frontispiece and additional plates, mostly portraits, in each volume. Text is reasonably bright. Library bookplate on the front pastedown, and library stamp and overlapping withdrawn stamp on the title page. Half dark green morocco over green cloth, with gilt lettering and decoration on the spine. All edges marbled. Very Good binding.

London, England: Richard Bentley and Son, 1891. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 9 volume set, 8vo. Edited, with a preface by Peter Cunningham. "Now First Chronologically Arranged." Volumes are 3/4 dark blue morocco, marbled boards, marbled inside covers and free endpapers. Five raised bands along spines. Ornate gilt border designs along spines, with gold titles in brown title boxes. The date 1891 is stamped in gold at the bottom edge of each spine. Frontispiece b&w portraits of Horace Walpole &c. opposite title pages, with bounded tissue in-between. Small stamp at upper left corner of front free endpapers of every volume: "Bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London, England, for Gelber, Lilienthal, Inc." Very minor shelfwear: very light rubbing along cover edges. Light spine fade. Some light tanning along page edges. Tightly bound with very clean and crisp pages. No marks. Volumes are in Very Good condition..
