About This Item

''After several years of work on the two greatest memorial subjects: Christopher Columbus and Here is the Man (modern and biblical fresco of my work) [...] that I wanted to realize before disappearing to close my destiny as a filmmaker in apotheosis - I finished the technical cutouts in the first half of April when an unexpected project was added - at the written request of Her Majesty the Empress Farah to make the Epic of Persia in the cinema - from its origins and which she wanted to talk to me about in Tehran. [...] In the so dramatic period of
In the history of the world we are living in right now, I don't believe I received a premonition loaded with invisible explosives just waiting for a signal. How was I blind enough not to have understood from your proposal - that there was nothing more important than this writing of an epic by General de Gaulle - without delaying - it is not only useful: c is essential. We must rekindle without delay the flame around his Great Shadow, in order to light the way to the countless hesitant flocks - ill-informed - lost in the confusion of proliferating ideologies - in search of a shepherd »... He ends this very long letter with the quote from General de Gaulle: "If the work that I have been able to accomplish, but the work that I have been able to represent - if it leads to tranquility - to prosperity and to peace : I will have earned my living. " In my turn, I can also say "I will have earned my living if you allow me to be the playwright of this Alchemy of Cinema which will ensure the sustainability of its action throughout the future.
