About This Item

Los Angeles, CA: Toy Quest, 2005. Wide 4to size pictorial hardcover illustrated board book with integrated video player. Book is unpaginated - about eight pages with full color illustrations. For ages 18 months and up This board book, with video and some sound from the integrated video screen, tells the story of a day at the zoo. The text includes icons, and when the same icons are pressed on the video player, video clips of zoo animals and employees appear. Many of the clips also include sound: hippos belch, giraffes noisily munch leaves, etc. The video players has four icons: blue flower, white cloud, yellow star and red heart which correspond with the icons in the book. Instructions prompt the reader to press the matching icon on the video player. The video screen is about 3 by 3 inches. The video screen is framed by bamboo poles and large green leaves extended beyond the frame. There is an icon on each side of the frame. A peg at the top of the player holds the other pages in place and also resets the player. A peg on the right side of the player turns the screen off when pressed or when book is closed. The audio speaker is camouflaged in a leaf design in the top left corner of the video player. All of the pages except the last page/back cover have a cut out in the middle of the page to accommodate the video player. The control to turn the book on (there is an on-off switch) is on the back of the book. Instructions for use are also on the back of the book. Book requires three batteries (included) which can be replaced. The battery compartment on the back of the book requires a small Phillips screwdriver to open. A note on the illustrations: the zoo keeper and many of the animals are portrayed with strabismus, or crossed eyes. There is some rubbing to the bamboo frame and some soil to the bottom of the book. The book is bowed due to the integrated player. The book has light handling wear. Our fourth photograph was taken with flash. The other photographs were taken in room light. You can see the reflection of our camera in the screen shots and on the back cover. Thanks for shopping with us! 100% of your purchase benefity charity and supports literacy and lifelong learning..
