INSCRIBED BOLDLY by the Author on the title page, 8vo, black quarter cloth with gold lettering over olive green boards, archival polyester-protected pictorial dust jacket (unclipped) with painting of the back of a man's shirt with title by David Tamura, map endpapers of the town of Egypt, Main, 244 pages. Carolyn Chute (born 1947) is an American writer, Conservative, and populist political activist strongly identified with the culture of poor, rural western Maine. She is a recipient of the PEN New England Award.<br/><br/>Like her first, well received novel, The Beans of Egypt (1985), this novel is also set in Egypt, Maine.<br/><br/>Cloth is tight, bright, and clean. Recipient of the Author's inscription has written her name on the half title. The dust jacket (unclipped) is bright with some edgewear and nicks.
Synopsis
