About This Item
Garland Publishing, 1979. Hardcover. Fine/no jacket. Blue cloth, lxv and 447 pages, 9.5-in tall, bibliography. Illustrated with many in-text figures and 17 plates. This study consists of a facsimile of the Leonardo codex MS D with an English translation and commentary, and discussions of Leonardo da Vinci's investigations in optics and his artistic theory. This 1979 edition is a revised version of Strong's PhD dissertation completed in 1967 at the University of California Los Angeles. New considerations are discussed in an introductory section, but the 1967 English translation of the Leonardo codex MS D has not been altered. Published in Garland's Outstanding Dissertations in the Fine Arts Series. Clean and unworn.
