1891-1892. THE AUTHOR'S ORIGINAL AUTOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT OF HIS NOVEL "L'ABANDONNÉ", WITH THE TITLE CROSSED OUT AND CHANGED TO "L'ENFANT MARTYR". 285 leaves (570 pp) with writing on rectos only. Easily legible cursive script with numerous corrections. SIGNED BY DUBUT DE LAFOREST. On good wove paper. This novel was first published in 1892 in installments in La Figaro, and later that same year by Dentu. Folio. Bound--surely for the the author--in contemporary quarter calf and pebbled boards, with author and title in gilt on front cover. A little wear to bidning. INTERNALLY FINE AND BRIGHT, WITH NO DEFECTS. Unique. An important literary manuscript, in excellent condition.
