Planchet; Vol. II has chip at the top corner and small stain on 2nd rear free endpaper, otherwise the textblocks are clean and tight; Rebound in black, textured cloth. Vol. I - 479p.; Vol. II is 493p. Illlustrated with maps, drawings and photographs. Rear free endpaper of Volume II bookseller's ticket shows this set was sold by The Oriental Book Store in Tientsin, China. "Évariste Régis Huc, C.M., also known as the Abbé Huc (1813-1860), was a French Catholic priest, Lazarite missionary, and traveller. He became famous for his accounts of Qing-era China, Mongolia (then known as "Tartary"), and especially....Tibet, from this work: Remembrances of a Journey in Tartary, Tibet, and China.
