Fair+ (boards sunned; scuffed, scratched w/ scoring to back; rubbed edge-wear. spine sunned; scratched w/ light staining; ends chipped, torn & rubbed; approx 3inch diagonal portion of upper spine missing w/ backing-binding visible; tear to edge w/ old transparent tape repair. corners rubbed, lower back harshly rubbed to board. areas of tearing to gutters/hinges). pink beveled boards w/ gilt stamped printing, illustration; gilt illustrated & printed spine. 451 pgs w/ bw illustrations; 16 color plates, including frontispiece. all edges gilt. Boards rattled. Textblock has numerous deep cracks and splits; threads and glue variously holding/intact. Textblock is rattled and fragile. Light toning to page edges w/ instances of light spotted foxing, though opening pages have more wide-spread and condensed instances. Remains a rebinding/reading copy; a practical research copy. Previous bookstore pencil and small sticker notations/pricing to front pastedown and enpapers.
