About This Item
ix+289 pages with tables, maps, charts, appendixes and index. Royal octavo (9" x 6") bound in original publisher's gilt lettering to spine. First edition. It is hardly original to say that Mexico is a heterogeneous country. Its territory presents a variety of climatic zones and geological formations. The Mexican population is made up of widely contrasting social categories and groups. Their occupations are different; as are their material standard of living, their relations to the means of production, and their access to resources in general. In this book the importance of other types of factors related to heterogeneity are stressed. The author follows the hypothesis that the plurality of human settlements and groups is above all function of their interdependence within a process of national, vertically organised consolidation. Condition: Points moderately rubbed else a very good to fine copy.
