An important edition of Scott's works, with Andrew Lang's notes.This edition is edited with notes and introductions by Andrew Lang who, with the permission of Scott's grandson, was given access to Sir Walter Scott's personal correspondence in order to better ascertain the events and circumstances in which these novels were written.
Complete in 25 volumes. All hinges are sound.

This set is well OVER 120 YEARS OLD!
Bound in high-quality, morocco Leather bindings.
Raised hubs on the gilded spines.
The spines have gilded thistles.
The top edges are gilded.
Marbled end papers.
Engraved plates protected by tissue.
Printed on thick paper with wide margins.
With introductory essays and notes by Andrew Lang.
Dana Estes and Company.
Printed in 1893.
7 3/4 inches tall.
These take up approximately 37 inches of shelf space (well over 3 feet).
In VERY GOOD Condition. The leather is supple despite being from the 1800's. All hinges are 100% fully attached and strong. Printed on quality paper that is fresh bright and clean. New internally despite the sheer age. In exceptional condition. Some shelf rubs and abrasions. Guy Mannering with dark spot over spine lettering, spines only lightly dry can benefit by being treated with linseed oil which is already recommended to be done every 10 or 20 years, all hinges sound, scuffs and abrasions to hinges and extremities. An exceptional set. All 25 volumes present and well preserved. Leather is still supple despite the age. Paper is exceedingly clean and supple. Appears free of any trace of foxing. Early inscription placed inconspicuously on second blank endpaper. Some general rubs/wear, as shown. This is a gorgeous set.
Each book will be individually wrapped and well protected for shipping.
