This work was written by the noted Thomas Babington Macaulay (Lord Macaulay), a British historian, author and whig politician. The work features a collection of poetry on Ancient Rome, portraying its history and heroes. The work also includes two poems inspired by recent history. Bound in full crushed morocco. Externally smart with rubbing to the joints and to the extremities of the boards, and marks to the boards. Hinges starting. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned and generally clean pages with light spotting to the blanks. Bookplate belonging to 'Josceline Grove' to the front blank. Ink inscription dated 1862 to the title page. Very Good
