About This Item

London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1823. Leather. Good. 8.5" by 5.5". Richard Westall. A nicely illustrated copy of this poem by Sir Walter Scott. Extra-illustrated with the six Richard Westall engraved plates bound-in from the 1809 John Sharpe publication, including the engraved title page. All in a decorative calf and marbled paper binding. Sir Walter Scott was a prolific Scottish historical novelist, playwright, poet and historian. In a half morocco and marbled paper binding. Externally, some rubbing, with a library shelf reference label to the spine. Internally, firmly bound, with foxing to the plates, and offsetting from the plates. There is a Worcester library label to the front pastedown, an ink reference number to the title page, and several ink library stamps throughout, some to the plates, but not affecting the illustrations. Good
