Contemporary sprinkled calf, tooled in gilt on spine, titled on black leather spine label; plain endpapers; [1]-334pp. Contemporary ownership inscription of B. Whishaw and recent embossed ownership stamp of David B. Dickens to title page. Sound, spine and extremities lightly rubbed, paper lightly browned with occasional smudges and spots but generally clean: Very Good.

Third edition of Scott's first narrative poem, in a contemporary binding. This tale of the Scottish Borders in the 16th century became highly popular, reaching six editions in two years (ODNB).
