About This Item

New York, 1912. A VERY GOOD copy of Scarce 1912 Lawyers' Club of New York City "handbook" including By-Laws, House Rules, a listing of Resident Members and of the Officers, Governing Committee and the House Committee. There are also 3 black & white illustrations, showing the United States Realty Building, the club fireplace in the smoking room and the main dining room. There is an "Apology" at the beginning of the book for possible errors. The Club records were destroyed in the Equitable Building Fire in early 1912. VERY GOOD. Deaccessioned from the Museum of the City of New York, the book has a small library stamp and a number on front pasted endpaper and the "removed from library" stamp and a small number on rear pasted endpaper. There some small numbers written on the colophon page - pages are otherwise clean and fine. Bound in dark green cloth hardcover with title gilt-stamped on front and spine. Moderate wear to spine ends, gilt on spine dulled, and there is a small library sticker on the spine. Binding and hinges firm and straight. 4-1/4 x 6-5/8". 61 numbered pages.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Not Issued.
