Description:
Tudor Publishing Company, 1959. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair . Some pieces missing to dustjacket, with some tears and edgewear; else in Fair to Good condition. Now in clear protective sleeve. Les Gens de Justice is a collection of caricatures that are a scathing satire about judges, defendants, attorneys and corrupt greedy lawyers that Honore Daumier started publishing in the mid-1840s. With a preface by Julien Cain. Honore Daumier was a French painter, sculptor and printmaker whose works offered commentary on the social and political life of France. Much of his work was caricatures and cartoons that satirized political figures and were published in newspapers and periodicals.
