First edition. Illustrated with nine paintings over seven plates. Collated complete. A collection assembled by Welch's partner, Eric Oliver, consisting of five stories appearing for the first time, four previously published stories, and two stories published in full for the first time, as well as sixty-seven poems. Written and illustrated by Maurice Denton Welch, a British writer and painter admired for his vivid prose and precise descriptions. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear and light rubbing to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. The odd small closed tear. Minor sunning to the spine with the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Near Fine

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
