Folio, approximately 380 x 260 mm 15 x 10¼ inches, 27 engraved illustrations, 16 large and 11 half page, engraved title page with cannons and portrait of the author, pages: 12 prelims including index, 1 - 142, decorated initials, bound in modern light half calf, red title piece with gilt lettering, marbled boards, new endpapers, edges untrimmed. Binding slightly rubbed, slight darkening and marking to spine, small loss of marbled paper to lower board, light foxing throughout and occasional pale age-browning, 1 page has slightly ragged edge neatly repaired not near text or illustration, otherwise a very good tight copy.
