FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE OF THE FIRST FRENCH BOOK ON GRAPHOLOGY, THE FOUNDATION OF MODERN GRAPHOLOGY. 2, 52 pp. + 25 plates (a hand-colored engraved frontispiece and 24 lithographed plates with a total of 43 writing samples.) The 24 plates of handwriting include samples from Elizabeth I, Mary Stuart, Bossuet, Racine, Frederick the Great, Voltaire, Rousseau, Benjamin Franklin (the first printed facsimile of his handwriting), and many others. These plates are among the first lithographs printed in France, the medium having been discovered a dozen years earlier. Printed on fine laid paper. 12mo. BOUND IN THE PUBLISHER'S PLAIN WRAPS, the "couverture d'attente" it was in the day it left the printing shop. Entirely uncut.
