Lyon, Chez les Freres Perisse..., 1780. 12mo, pp. [iv], c, 375 [376 Permission], contemporary tree sheepskin, spine gilt in compartments, morocco label; base of spine chipped, but a very good copy, with the rectangular book ticket of J. Crosilhes, Libraire, of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, "Ou l'on trouve un assortiment de Livres classiques et autres bons Ouvrages...." Cardinal Melchior de Polignac (1661 - 1742) spent his early career as a diplomat for France before being made Archbishop of Auch in 1726. He died before his refutation of Lucretius could be published. It was first published in 1748.
