New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1852. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Small 4to, xix, 190pp. Full brown calf with gilt lettering to the boards, borders to front and rear board stamped in blind, rebacked in closely matching leather with gilt spine lettering. All edges gilt, new endpapers, binders initials GS stamped to the rear endpaper, likely the work of Toronto binder George Schmidlechner. Complete with 26 illustrations, 1 map and 1 folding view. Frontispiece is water stained along the edges and foxed, with light foxing to the prelims and some of the plates, the folding view has a piece roughly 1-3 inches detached at the fold, but present. The binding a little rubbed and scuffed at the corners and edges but overall, a clean and tight copy.
