Bound in silver cloth covers, and illustrated by the woodcut artist Lettice Sandford (born Lettice Mackintosh Rate; 1902–1993, daughter of the man who ran the Imperial Ottoman Bank, the central bank of the Ottoman Empire, and eventually the wife of Christopher Sandford, the founder of the Golden Cockerel Press, for which she provided wood-engravings.
