DJ: Near Fine; sunned spine and a three closed holes through the cover on the spine. 523 pp. The story of Juan Bautista Lamy, first archbishop of Santa Fe. A prime civilizer of the frontier Southwest, who came west in 1851 and helped the institutions of knowledge, mercy, and amenity come alive. Appointed archbishop in 1875, his knowledge as ecological pioneer spreads especially as a gardner and a tree planter. A very clean and presentable copy in Brodart mylar.
