USA: Harper Collins, 1963. Cloth. Fine/Fine. 9" by 7.5". Shel Silverstein. A wonderful copy of Shel Silverstein's 'Lafcadio', the bittersweet tale of the a lion turned hunter. Undated, circa date taken from the copyright date. Born in 1930, Shel Silverstein was a cartoonist, song writer and children's author. Often writing under the name Uncle Shelby, he was a highly commended in his respective fields, he received two Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination. 'Lafcadio: The Lion Who Shot Back' started life in Playboy magazine before later being turned into a children's book. This bittersweet tale sees Lafcadio, the charismatic Lion fond of marshmallows, become the world's greatest shooter. Beautifully illustrated throughout. In a full cloth binding and held in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent, with some minor shelfwear. Small tear to the front endpaper, to the tail, towards the foredge, no more than 1cm. Dustwrapper is excellent. Internallly, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine
