Some small pencil 'x-s' to a few recipes, and some light foxing. In publisher's yellow cloth, decorated with an image by Messel; very good or better. In publisher's dust jacket, with some soil and stains, and with an illustration by Messel. Scarce.

London: Putnam, 1948. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Second edition, revised and enlarged. Introduction by Osbert Sitwell. Decorations by Oliver Messel. Binding cocked, modest edgewear, a few pages with a small stain, very good or better in a price-clipped, about very good dust jacket with a sunned spine, toning and a few stains, and chips and tears including a tear on the front cover with interior tape repair. The first edition was published in 1935. This second, postwar edition has been revised "with a special eye to present shortages, which [Sysonby] holds are no excuse for unattractive food." In the introduction, she notes "I have included many recipes that have been tried out and found satisfactory during the last seven years. I am therefore trusting to the intelligence of those kind enough to read this book that, where 'eggs' are suggested, dried eggs can be used, margarine for fresh butter, top of the milk for cream.
