Florence, Italy: Privately Published, 1928. This edition states "Privately Printed, Florence, Italy,1928" on the title page, and may be an early pirated or "secret" version of the first edition put out while the book was being banned and destroyed. This printing does not have limitation numbers or the author signature as some do, and is bound in brown faux "leather" style of cloth. Just as with the ones in the blue covers, this version embellished in a number of places (title page and some chapter heads) by rather interesting illustrations by an unknown artist, depicting a goblin of some kind doing "science" experiments on hapless little naked humans. Some of these are a bit erotic, so we should in general say "Adults Only" on this one. Condition is Good, with mild aging and some foxing to page paper; still sturdily bound with mild shaking to hinges. Exterior presents decently, though with some rubbing, page-edge toning, and moderate wear to corners.. Early Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Octavo.

No publisher noted. 1928 copyright date. Appears to be an early pirated edition. Clean, unmarked interior. Full cloth printed with a marbled crimson and violet pattern. Spine label has been almost completely rubbed off. Front and back hinges are somewhat loose and appear to have been repaired, although the book as a whole remains readable and sound. Heavy cosmetic wear to the boards and outer spine, including some areas of rubbing and fraying at the edges. 314 pp. Fiction.
