About This Item

UK,slim 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn.FINE/FINE.No owner inscrptn and no price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,crisp,clean,glossy laminated,wrap-around colour pictorial artwork,by Peter Chapman, illustrated dw/dj,with red+black lettering; with negligible shelf-wear and creasing to edges and corners - no nicks or tears present.Inevitable, but superficial light scoring/indents - without affecting the boards beneath though.Top+fore-edges bright and clean; contents bright, tight, clean - virtually pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners, appears unread - apart from my own collation. Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,publisher's original, plain red cloth boards with a plain black cloth blind spine and bright, crisp, stamped gilt letters to spine/backstrip and immaculate plain red endpapers.UK,8vo HB+dw/ dj,1st edn,1-132pp [paginated] includes 8 full-page b/w line illustrations by Peter Chapman throughout the text and the book; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages,a dedication with author's note to it's recto, and to the rear 6pp blanks. The time is just before the outbreak of the Great War,the place a small town in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney,Australia, and the story is Colleen McCullough at her warmest and most light-hearted.On one level 'The Ladies of Missalonghi' is a classic fairytale,on another it is a wickedly accurate picture of life in a place where men may dominate, but women rule. Peter Chapman born in Sydney,Australia in 1937.Attended the National Art School,Sydney in 1955 and then went on to Julian Ashton's School in 1958.Apart from a brief period in the early 1960's which he spent in London and Florence,Peter Chapman has lived and worked in Australia all his life, and has a unique feel for the Australian landscape. He devotes all his time to painting. Since April 2013,again in March 2015,and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template, altering its prices, weight allowances, dimensions and lowered its qualifying compensation rates too! So,please contact rpaxtonden@blueyonder.co.uk ,because of the lighter weight of this item, for correct shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page!
