About This Item
G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1954. Hardcover. Very Good. A very scarce book. This publication by Mrs. Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok came well after their days in the White House together. The book is dedicated to Molly Dewson. Dewson took over as Director of the Women's Division of the Democratic National Committee when Franklin D. Roosevelt came to office in 1933.The book tracts the activities of women in politics from Stanton to 1952 but concentrates on the 1948-1952 period where Hickok's journalistic experience would be particularly useful. The book concludes with a " How To Break Into Politics " chapter. However, the highlight of the book is Hickok's chapter on Eleanor which Eleanor agreed to reluctantly and did not see before publication. This is an extraordinary volume. Boards show light traces of water stains. However, boards and book are sound and there is no sign of stains to the text.
