About This Item
S.l.: Amerikanischen Kriegsinformationsamt, 1945. Paperback. Good. [32] p.: illustrations; 27 cm. Contains photographs taken at five liberated concentration camps: Buchenwald, Belsen, Gardelegen, Nordhausen, and Ohrdruf. "This small but important book was distributed in Germany by the American War Information Unit at the end of the World War II in order to convey to the civilian population the enormity of the crimes committed by the Nazis in the name of the German people. Thus this book, which is not much more than a pamphlet, may represent the single most significant use of photography as a witness in the medium`s history". -- Gerry Badger. In German. In Good Condition: rubbed with loss at corners and edges; one vertical crease throughout; closed 7-cm. tear from fore-edge of one leaf; several closed tears of 1 cm. or less; otherwise, clean and solid.
