About This Item
Third issue of the third and last year of "Kreisā fronte", the first substantial leftist Latvian-language journal with international aspirations. Its concept and format followed Vladimir Mayakovsky's magazine the "LEF" and the design of "Novy Lef". Only 17 issues were published between 1928 and 1930 (the last one was double), when it was banned by the authorities, and Laicens launched his new magazine the "Tribīne".
The content of "Kreisā fronte" was more cultural than political, contained avant-garde literary elements as well as photographic artwork.
Linards (Petrovich) Laicens (1883-1938) was a Latvian Expressionist writer and poet, active in politics as a member of Communist party. He was the editor or the leftist Avant-garde journals "Kreisā Fronte" and "Tribīne".

OCLC locates fragmentary holdings of this journal in two libraries, NYPL, and Waseda, but it is unclear if either owns this issue.
