Krahn, McMahon & Allied Families, Three Photo Albums, 1882 - 1929

[Marathon County, Wisconsin ?]: unpublished, various photographers, compiler unknown, 1882 - 1929 Approximately 279 mostly silver gelatin photographs (some albumen & other types) housed in 3 folio "scrapbook" albums, heavily annotated in manuscript & occasionally typed throughout. No doubt compiled later, the photos vary in size from approximately 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches to 10 inches by 13 inches & are a mix of amateur & professional images. Included in the group are snapshots, cdv's, cabinet cards, at least one tintype & one cyanotype

The images, which are secured in the albums by old black photo corners, vary in condition but are generally Very Good Several show edge wear (including small losses), fading, moderate soiling, & silver mirroring Several are detached or partially detached from the corners

The annotations, apparently added later (1940's?) provide names, dates, places, etc. Beginning with Frank Carl Krahn, who was a locomotive engineer from Manitowoc &, later, Kaukauna, Wisconsin, the albums present a lengthy record of his family including the allied families of McMahon, Miller, Robley, & others

Although the photographs range from mundane to fascinating, particularly poignant are a group of seven images depicting some sort of performance by young adults (?) featuring characters in blackface Another great photo measuring 7" x 11" shows a football team
