About This Item
Chicago, Ilinois: R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company, 1935. Christmas 1935 . Hardcover. Good +. 192 pages including an index plus a 38 page Historical Introduction by Dr. Milo Milton Quaife. There are two tissue-guarded frontispieces one protecting a picture of Carson & his signature (apparently he was taught to be able to accomplish this) and one in handwriting ( not Carson's as he was unable to read or write) of his fight with Shunar. The cloth covers are red, burgundy or maroon; take your pick. No bookplates, no owner names or stamps, no markings. Inside the front and back cover near the spine is some foxing and on the outer edge of the pages there is some light brown spotting (foxing). Just a touch of wear at the head and tail of the spine and at corners. Logo, decorative band and lettering are sharp. Book itself has been protected in a clear archival quality cover for over two decades, easily removed, if desired. Top edge is gilded and is still bright. All in all, a quite presentable copy, available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box.
