A signed first edition copy of this charming and humorous play from Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie, best remembered for creating the free spirited boy who will never grow up, Peter Pan.With the inscription 'Yours Sincerely, J. M Barrie' to the front free endpaper.The work follows a poor London girl named Jane Thing, who takes care of a group of refugee children from various countries during the First World War. She adores the story of Cinderella and dreams, despite her poverty, of attending a ball.A delightful play first performed at London's Wyndham Theatre in March 1916, this is the first published edition of the work in book form, from Hodder and Staughton's uniform edition of 'The Plays of J. M. Barrie'. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with paper labels to back strip and front board. Discoloration to back strip, with bumping to spine head and tail. Marks to front board and title label. Signed to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the exception of one spot to the tail of pages 4-7. Very Good
