Factual account of the tile campaign in the early days of the Civil War. One of the few eyewitness accounts of the battles and operations in eastern North Carolina. A collection of letters from a correspondent of the New York Herald, edited by Howe. List of participating regiments, and a supplemental index of units and major officers, showing where they are mentioned in the correspondent's letters.
