About This Item

Kingsport, TN: The Sevier Press, 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. Illustrated. FIRST EDITION. Hardcover. Bound in blue publisher's cloth with brown debossed lettering and a black debossed image of an industrial town on both the cover and spine. Deckled edge. Illustrated with 31 black and white full-page photograph plates throughout. Frontispiece is entitled "Junction of the North and South Forks of the Holston River at Historic Brotherwood". [xiv] 304 pp. Per Google Books, "Thoroughly researched and meticulously detailed, this volume reveals a wealth of details on the historic setting, human interests, and colorful anecdotes of Kingsport. The information is presented in three parts: first, the fascinating early history; second, details of unbelievable accomplishment in building the 'deliberately planned' city; and finally, the absorbing descriptions of each major industry already thriving there. Businesses include the Tennessee Eastman Corporation, the Kingsport Press, Holliston Mills, and the Mead Fibre Company." CONDITION: This edition is in overall "very good" condition, with some rubbing and a wear-through spot on the cover, along with a small dent in the edge. Corners have been ever-so-slightly bumped. Spine is sunned and somewhat discolored. Leaves have beautifully and evenly toned, with a classic, vintage feel. Some light discoloration on the front and back endpapers. Pages are clean and free from marginalia or creasing. A nice copy. Additional photos available upon request. Full refund if not satisfied.
