Tokyo: Heibonsya, 1979. First edition.. A fine copy in a near fine dust jacket.. Pp. 102; 100+ fine color photos of kingfishers (some are double page), 100+ small black-white vignette photos. Publisher's original blue-green cloth, lettered on the spine in pink, color pictorial dust jacket, oblong sm 4to (9 x 10.5 inches). This volume is an album of fine color photos of the kingfisher perching, flying, diving, fishing, eating, and swimming. The text is in Japanese but the book is predominately color photos. At the end of the volume, all photos appear in small vignettes with accompanying text describing where the photo was taken and the camera and lens used to take the photograph. From the library of ornithologist Dorothy Hartshorne with her bookplate on the front endpaper.
