Previous owner's name on endpaper. also published in England under the title "Napolean's Son." Translated from the French by Robert Baldick. frontispiece portrait and B&W Illustrations. 396 pp w/index & sources, Napoleon's only legitimate son. Biography of Napoleon's son by Marie Louise, oldest daughter of the Emperor of Austria, whose birth was the cause for great celebration in Paris. However: "When the boy was three years old Napoleon again went off to war. But the tide was turning, and Marie Louise took the child and hurried home to Vienna. He never saw his father or France again.".
