About This Item
Boston: Roberts Bros, 1871. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. W. S. Gilbert. Scarce first American edition of this work from William Gilbert, including 150 illustrations by his son, W.S. Gilbert, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame. Previously published in London by Bell and Daldy, 1869. Both editions hard to find, though Worldcat only shows 1 holding for the U.S. edition. 501 pages, very good in publisher's green cloth with gilt design on front cover and spine. Some rubbing to edges of rear board and cloth at corners, toning to spine, and small split in cloth at both front and rear joints near head. Internally sound and clean.
