He interned under Franz Mayr at the St. Anna Children's Hospital for pediatric healing. He was given a post there in 1862. From 1862-69 he was Hermann Widehofer's assistant. He became Director at the General Polyclinic in Vienna. Monti was co-founder of the ?Zentralzeitung? and with Adolph Baginsky, they co-founded the ?Archiv fur Kinderheilkunde?.
