A handsome, carefully-cared for copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing mild wear and several minor, unobtrusive cosmetic imperfections. NOT Book-Club or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.2 x 6.15 x 0.25 inches) . Language: English. Weight: 4.5 ounces. Trade Paperback. A collection of poems on the distinct seasons of New England, at once reminiscences, anecdotes and vignettes, all communicating the deep presence of nature by our 14th U. S Poet Laureate Donald Hall (1928 - 2018) . Donald Hall and wife Jane Kenyon (1947-1995) moved to Eagle Pond Farm in Wilmot, NH in 1975; both were Poet Laureates of the State of New Hampshire . A Sense of belonging to the community and to the land permeates both their writings. This collection contains a number of Hall's much-anthologized classics: "Kicking the Leaves" and "Names of Horses" among them. Hall's poems have been published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and American Poetry Review. This is one of my favorites of all time, I read the title poem every fall -- been doing that for a couple decades now. I was lucky to hear Donald Hall read from this, and his other works, at Northern Michigan University back in 2012. The photographic cover illustration is classic. Hall has won so many honors it would be overwhelming to list them all, but among them are the Lamont Poetry Prize (1955) , Edna St. Vincent Millay Award (1956) , Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Poetry (1989) , Robert Frost Medal from the Poetry Society of America (1990) , and theNational Medal of Arts (2010). He was nominated for the National Book Award three times. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 58 pages. pages .
