London; Secker & Warburg, 1961., 1961. Hard Cover. FIRST BRITISH EDITION. Octavo, pp. 183, [1]. Publishers' midnight blue cloth with silver titles to spine. Unclipped pictorial dust-jacket designed by Anthony Maitland. Text-block edge slightly foxed otherwise a clean copy; no annotation or inscriptions. Jacket sunned to spine and partially toned, with a few minor creases. Near Fine in Very Good jacket. Novel with themes of fear, impotence and sexual incompatibility, told in the form of diary entries that each half of a couple keep, by the award-winning Japanese writer Junichiro Tanizaki. The 1960 film "Odd Obsession" was based upon the story, winning a special prize at the Cannes Film Festival that year.
