LONDON: ADAM AND CHARLES BLACK / A & C Black, 1907 Green cloth boards with Hop Bine illustration and gilt titles to spine and front, 230 x 175 mm approx. Top edge gilt , x + 240 pp, Colour frontis with Caption guard + 72 other full colour plates by W.Biscombe Gardner all as called for + two fold out maps and plan. First Edition 1907. Good/ Poor (Book- Colour rubbing to extremities, significant offset browning and foxing to end papers with sporadic foxing throughout to varying extent, the better quality china clay paper of the plates unaffected. Previous owner name in ink to reverse of free front end paper. Dust Jacket - shelf rubbed with tears, creases and two significant areas of loss - triangular 5.5 x 4 cm approx bottom front panel near tail of spine and 1 cm in depth across head. Now in a removable proprietary protective sleeve to which coloured paper has been inserted in front of the stark white of the backing paper so as not to draw the eye on the bookshelf). Those of us familiar with Hops will note that the image on the dust jacket is upside down! The book has been graded as good only because of the foxing and the price has been set on the basis of £1 a plate then allowance for the rare dust jacket.
