In Fair to Good Condition. The Karen language originates in Northern Thailand, classified as the Tibeto-Burman group of the Sino-Tibetan language family. 22 leaves bound in marbled paper over boards, with cloth spine. Includes one plate, showing Meridians and Parallels, with description also in English. Both title pages and the plate have decorative borders. Covers detached, binding tight, occasional foxing. Hand written paper label on front cover, reads "Karen Catechism is presented by Rev. Dr. Ide". ASSOCIATION COPY. Dr. Rev. Ida was part of the American Baptist Home Mission Society, and received a letter of commendation from President Lincoln for his Christian support of the Country and Liberty. Library marks show as small paper label & written call number on spine, a paper plate inside the front cover, embossing and perforations on some pages.
