Bratislavia, Slovak Republic: Artimo / Meulensteen Art Museum, 2005. First Edition. Hardcover. As New. 4to 11" - 13" tall. Karel Appel. A gorgeous copy bound in quarto hardcover format, 144 pp., with 150 full-colour and 15 monochrome illustrations. Sterling condition hardcover copy, with unbruised tips, tight binding, and clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear to the glossy pictorial covers; not ex-library, with neither underlining nor highlighting anywhere. The volume looks mostly at Appel's post-war work, when he rebelled against his studio training and founded several avant-garde art movement groups including Cobra but having come out of Expressionism. Introduction by Appell's longtime friend, Gerard H. Meulensteen. Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
