About This Item

Chicago: Standard Publications, Inc.. First Edition . Half Leather - Hardbound. Good/No Jacket. 4to. Copyright is 1912. Complete in three volumes. There were at least five variations of this publication, with the differences being in the Biography volume. Four of the variations are found with Volume III being only a single volume, and one with Volume III being divided into two parts (though the latter is by far the more common and comprehensive). Each variation, however, does contain several unique entries that will be found in none of the other variations. This particular set appears dedicated to the north-central counties of Kansas with entries from Smith, Jewell, Morton, and other counties that will not be seen in any other variation of this title, including the larger three volume in four variation. All three volumes are bound with black leather over spines and corners, and black cloth over boards. The leather is rubbed and scuffed, and that over the spine of Vol. I is just a little brittle. Pages 389-396 of the Biographical volume are detached and laid in place. There is light edge wear seen along the edges of this signature of pages. All three volumes are otherwise tight and generally clean.

With more than 25 years of experience buying and selling out-of-print, collectible, and rare books, maps, and ephemera, I am now doing business from my home at 60 Poplar Heights Rd.; Chanute, KS 66720; U.S.A. by appointment only. I offer a selection of more than 5000 books of all genre, as well as more than 1000 maps ranging from 15th century to early 20th. All inventory is hand selected and believed to be of significance for the collector, the reader, the historian or the general book lover. Historically, I have specialized in Kansas and regional history, but also maintain quality collections of Natural History, Theology, Americana, Railroad, Travel and Exploration, Medicine, Art, and Psychology, Neurology, and Psychiatry. Fine bindings, plate books, signed and inscribed items are an important part of my collections. Smaller, though intriguing collections of other genre are also a part of my holdings. Appraisal, consultation, and collection development services are available. Please come and browse, talk books, and have a cup of coffee in a relaxed and book friendly environment. But for the convenience of both of us, please email or call first. Trade terms available and dealers are welcome.
