Incomplete with forty plates out of forty-four. Missing four plates, pages 37, 43, 73, and 79. A collection of cartoons by Edmund Sullivan, a book illustrator who worked largely in the Art Nouvea style. At the time he was working in the late nineteenth century, book illustrations were on the rise, with authors like Charles Dickens' having etchings in all of their novels. In the original publisher's cloth binding. externally, smart. Loss to the tail of the spine, resulting in the tail of the hinges starting. Light bumping to the head of the spine and to the extremities. Minor markings and shelfwear to the boards. Offsetting to the recto of the front endpaper, and to the verso of the rear endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound, thought slightly strained in places. Pages are bright with the odd spot throughout. Prior owner's pencil signature to the head of the title page, 'Josef Faulkner, London'. Four plates are missing, page numbered 37, 43, 73, and 79. Plates 33 and 34 are lifting.
