A first edition copy of this work from the popular 'Kai Lung' series by Ernest Bramah, inscribed by Naomi Royde-Smith. The first edition. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Inscribed to the front free endpaper by Naomi Royde-Smith. Royde-Smith was a British writer and editor, best known for her role as the first female editor of the, 'Westminster Gazette'. A captivating fantasy novel following the reoccurring protagonist of 'Kai Lung', as he recites numerous tales regarding ancient China, in order to avoid being punished for treason. The books in the Kai Lung series usually revolve around the telling of many short stories. Ernest Bramah was an English author whose work spanned many genres including humour, science fiction and crime. His novel, 'What Might Have Been', was a major influence for George Orwell's classic, 'Nineteen Eighty-Four'. The half title page is present. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some shelf wear to the extremities. Fraying to the spine. Fading to the spine. Marks to the rear board and spine. Light marks to the front board. Ink inscription from Royde-Smith to the front free endpaper. Scattered handling marks to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Internally, binding slightly strained but still firm. Pages age-toned to the edges but otherwise very bright and clean. Some scattered spots towards the front of the book. Very Good
